Yesterday I spent some time going through some old boxes and came across some keepsakes from my childhood. I scanned through old pictures, cards, mementos, and priceless letters. One note was given to me by lady from my childhood congregation. She had sent me a simple note of three lines. The words weren’t of any great eloquence, but the simple note took my breath away. Tears streamed down my face when I saw the signature, Nanny Hull.
Nanny Hull is one of the many precious people that God has sent into my life. As I spent time on my personal memory lane, I thanked God for the beautiful life He has given me. I had a small, short glimpse of how much God has taken care of me. He blessed me with a strong foundation in my family, church home, and neighbors. He allowed people to move in and out of my life that impacted my walk and brought me to the life that I spent my life praying for. Those few moments I spent reminiscing were priceless in many ways, but the most priceless thing was the revelation of how many people God used to help me become who I am today.
I’m unable to list all the Christian examples, mentors, encouragers, and prayer warriors, God provided for me throughout my life. The number of people that dedicated time, money, and energy to ensure that I could learn His word is unimaginable. All the people that have gone to God in prayer on my behalf cannot be counted. The profound awareness that God used so many to create this life for me baffles my mind.
That brings us to this week’s prayer prompt. I thank God for all the people that He used to show me Him. I ask God to bless all those that worked and prayed for my benefit. I pray for the ability to continue the work that was done in me and to help me know how to continue that work and be a shining light for Him.
